Now why would this “tick” anyone off? Or bombing a country that did nothing to us, two actually, to get one guy we have a grudge against, and one guy who deserved it, but we missed him for years because the guy who started the wars was an idiot, only killing a few hundred thousand innocent people?
This is what happens when you don’t have a plan. George W put these people down there without any idea of what to do with them. They are in a legal limbo, they can’t be prosecuted and they can’t be released as prisoners of war after the war ends. Our laws require we treat them humanly so the taxpayer will just keep on paying until they all pass on. Another really good Republican strategy!
Just a note: When the U.S. went down the road to violating international, as well as U.S. laws in developing Gitmo, and holding folks for “enhanced interrogation”, did we abandon all hope in entering that track to accepting despotism in the “Unitary Executive”??
