That is a hysterical reference to a somewhat obscure Pacino movie…1973?

I hadn’t the foggiest what today’s strip referred to, but knew I could count on you commenters for clues. I used the few I had gleaned, and came up with this from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attica_Prison_riot“In the film Dog Day Afternoon, (1975), Al Pacino’s character, Sonny, who is holding eight bank employees hostage, starts the chant, “Attica! Attica!”, at the massed police outside, evoking the excessive police force used in response to the Attica riot. The chant “Attica! Attica!” has since been parodied or used for comedic effect in everything from children’s cartoons to crime procedurals.[citation needed]"

Thanks of the clarification. I was so in the dark I was thinking of “To Kill a Mockingbird”, when the mad dog came down the street and thought he meant “Atticus”, duh!

I hadn’t seen the movie either, but the video is one of my favorites. Can’t sit still during that one.

Strangely today I read in the Long Island, NY paper that they are reinvesting the case against the guards at the Attica riot.
