YES! And that extremism exists in ALL branches, especially the most radical of the 30,000 “Christian” sects, not just Judaism or Islam (who yes, are trying to “keep up”)

@Molon Labe – If that was all the Extremist Christians were doing I would agree that they have much greater threats. Unfortunately, there seems to be no sense of restraint in some of the more radical Christians just like there is no restrain in some of the Radical Jewish and Muslim groups. Bombing Abortion clinics is a good example.

But there is a more insidious danger in the zealots of all faiths. They don’t find it sufficient to establish a relationship with God – They aren’t satisfied until they are forcing you to live their faith as well. How many Blue code laws do we have on the books because Christians were offended by those who would buy Alcohol on Sunday – as if they own the day? How many Anti-Abortion and Anti-Women’s reproductive health laws were forwarded last year across the nation because the Religious Right isn’t satisified with saying Abortion is offensive to them. They want to take it away from everyone.

I would say Religious Extremism overall is a pretty big threat to my liberty and my way of life.

Just a note of reminder, Molon, Buddhists, Sikhs, HIndus, and many non-“bible” religions and philosophies are NOT “atheist”. They just don’t buy into a particular book of old and “new” mythologies that have created the most violent “religions” in human history. Interestingly, they don’t have a problem with the more realistic, and “humanitarian” excerpts from those religions that don’t see much application in practice.

Great comments all. I would only add that when another’s belief system conflicts with yours, everyone should agree to disagree…no bombs, no killings.

The amazing shrinking brain! Perfect example of “evo-devo”. Either life, including humans, evolves or it devolves. No middle ground.

Nah, it is not Socialism that can be branded as a religion; rather it is capitalism for it worships the almighty dollar.

The great thing about this cartoon is that you can sub out “Religious Extremism” for any stance you don’t agree with, and it still works, because EVERYONE who doesn’t agree with you is dangerous and has a tiny tiny brain.

As there are more Sikhs than Jews in the world, do they need to get more militant and attack more people to show their strength and “fly the flag” of their religion? (In defense off course!)

Yep, the more extreme the Religion the smaller the brain.
