The last couple of weeks have been relatively mild, even downright cold after sundown, with some trees dropping their leaves already. Hope it doesn’t portend another 1995 winter.
Wisconsin has been anything but “hot” this summer. We’re supposed to hit 83 today and that’s about as warm as it has been getting. I sure won’t complain. That’s perfect boating weather and I’m on vacation!
I wonder if Alex has a ceremony for when they take down her coral reef, or is it just a grotto, or is it a ocean tide pool? In any case will be sad to see her imagination hibernate.
I remember when 90oF/30oC was unheard of here in Nassau, Bahamas. This August we’ve had temperatures of 92oF/33oC before 8:30am and 98oF/36oC in the steamy shade by noon. Not pleasant at all. Don’t forget the power outages due to thunder/lightening storms, overused, old equipment etc. Can you say “Hot! Hot! Hot!” just like the calypso tune?
In St. Petersburg, FL, my van thermometer showed 95° yesterday; the relative humidity is 75 now. In the days before A/C, I thought that September was the absolute worst month – the heat and humidity had been going on for so long, and the sun bore down at a relentless angle.
I enjoy all the weather here in Phoenix, but it IS because I don’t have to be outdoors unless I want to be. We have year-round sunshine (so much that people celebrate the rain, when it comes). And we all know better than to lie out in the sun – this strip must be almost unchanged from the first go-round.
Here in Denver July and August is pretty much the only warm weather we get..it’s been pretty cool this “summer”. The old saying is that we have 3 seasons…July, August and winter. I am worried this winter is going to be nasty. El Niño is back.

Come to Phoenix, Arizona. It will take you less than an hour to get over any positive feelings about August days!

If those kids lived here, they’d be in school now.

A Lutheran high school in town starts today. The public school kids start Sept 2nd here in eastern WI. We’ve barely had summer, in WI.
