Too many divorced parents where they both want to be the “fun” parent, and neither wants to be the tough parent. Result = screwed up kids.

On the other hand in Michigan there is currently a case where a 12 year stabbed and killed a 9 year old on a playground and claimed he did because he was not loved at home; it was later found the parents were serial child abusers.

When the principal of our daughter’s elementary school called to tell us the little darling had been caught smoking, I told him I had no trouble believing that, and he had our permission to punish her to any degree the school board allowed. I though the man was going to drop the phone.

Observer, if your 12 year old had waited 6 more years before he murdered someone his abuse would have been irrelevant; he’d be in jail for most of his life and his parents would be railing against the system that put him there. The prisons are full of folks just like him.

For most teens who get into trouble due to parents fault. Means mom and dad do not get along and divorce takes place. Teens do not like for mom and dad do that. Dad could be abusive. Teens act up and get into trouble as mom and dad do not know how to be a parent to their teen. Place I used to work at when teens did crimes, finished lock up, and judge ordered to counseling and treatment center had those issues.

If our parents didn’t screw us up we wouldn’t have anything to gripe about.

Do yourselves a favor and get down off your cross and use the wood to build a bridge AND GET OVER IT.
