Americans are a funny bunch. Blame the entire world’s woes on their president. Ah yes, because most of their president’s political opposition reckon they’re exceptional and are the world’s police. That’s why the opposition lambasts their president for anything and everything. Alas for their ego, American power is on the wane. The sooner everyone accepts it, the sooner we get back to sorting out the worlds’ issues together. Getting rid of those vetoes within the UN would be a great start..
asked “How’s the shira law patrols in the East End going…. returning UK to world power status one neighborhood at a time…”
…goodness me, that was news quite some time ago, dealt with locally.Did you bring it up because you felt the USA should come into the London East End and drone-bomb people?Gresch, droning American Global Power up one neighbourhood at a time. :-|
Lastly, you bring up something that would attack pride in the UK, forgetting perhaps that I am simply a resident in the UK. I am not a British citzen. Hurling patriotic nonsense does little to me. You can chuck abuse at my two nationalities and I will still feel nothing: I do not fall for nationalist patriotic shots. However, you guys do. I was mindful to assign my comments to the political opposition to Obama i.e. the right-wing. Moderate Americans I have much in common with and respect for. These are Americans that should be at the forefront of your country, the ones who are serious about your country’s role in tomorrow’s world. Meanwhile, I push buttons and bingo…
I like your attitude. And it is true that Dubya did save lives in Africa, and he doesn’t get the credit that he should for that.
My problem with this (and so many similar) cartoons is the assumption that the United States has the power to end any conflict, and to indeed be able to stop conflicts from even starting. I don’t care who’s in the White House….poo-poo occurs, and in many cases there’s nothing we’re going to do to stop it. And (as has been so eloquently described here and elsewhere,) we are often part of the cause of the conflict, sometimes inadvertently, sometimes directly. So, I won’t feel bad when cartoonists stop basing their Obama-bashing on an absurd premise.
Once again, there are enough legitimate boondoggles, mistakes, and mis-steps that have been made by the Obama administration. The incessant need to make up even more takes away from legitimate concerns, and also dilutes and undermines the message.
I’m advocating for GOOD international and united action, not unilateral self-interested American action as often has been the case. That Neocon New American Century is long past its sell-by date.
I liked your attempt to get me self-interested with your “Bush was wunnerful for Africa” bait, especially after I said I would be unaffected by nationalist buttons. Alas, the very positive project is blighted by his ‘abstinence- focused prevention programs have put many more lives in jeopardy.’Promoting Bush’s support for abstinence programmes was self-interested…
Try again…?
Try Bill Gates and his foundation…Now there’s an American you can get behind! Despite earning his billions with dodgy business practices (that probably wrecked havoc globally), he’s making up for it by ploughing hundreds of millions into ground-breaking research that aims to benefit the Whole of Humanity!
I am almost as sad about the opportunities to promote democracy that President Obama has passed over as I am about the global disasters that have occurred under his feckless watch.
Urinating in the wind to defend the “government” in Kiev is NOT a good idea, the worst appeasement I’ve seen from Obama has been trying, and failing, to appease the right wingnuts here at home…

Boring, stupid and repetitive. Stantis is less than mediocre even for a right wing hack.

“That used to be us.”
I have news for you: It was never your country. The USA has been misusing its power for decades: it sorted its own self-interest first and foremost.

Not that facts matter to Neocons, but for those of you who are still capable of persuasion by facts, some facts about President Obama’s time off…
