This is actually better then what she would have experienced if she was in Silcon valley. Where the CEOs colluded to hold down wages by instituting anti-poaching policies.

If we want to encourage kids to go into Science and technology fields then we have to make sure the rewards are comeasurate with the difficulty of the field of study. Nobody is going to bust their behind for 4 years getting an engineering degree if it only pays as much as working at McDonalds.

The Same goes for H1 Visas where corporations get the US government to loosen it’s grip on immigration for engineers, doctors, scientists etc. This artificially holds down the wages of those fields. Corporations argue that they can’t find qualified workers in those fields – Baloney!!! There are twice as many graduates in those fields in the US as there are jobs. Unless qualified means “Willing to work for minimum wage”.

If we want to help American workers we need to: 1) Stop immigration until the Economy gets back on it’s feet and I mean Stop it: H1 Visas, normal immigration etc. 2) Modify the tax code so it makes more sense to train an American worker rather then use foreign labor, 3) Prosecute to the full extent of the law anyone who hires illegal workers and that means Jail time, fines, confiscation of businesses. No more turning a blind eye to it because it’s politically convenient.

Watch what happens to the Economy when Americans have work and a little more power against corporations in the marketplace.
