What kind of cafe has no coffee? By definition it has to!

I’ve seen coffee cups there. Do you drink water out of a coffee cup, Poncho??
kreole about 14 years ago
Yeah, coffee cups are what I’ve always seen the dogs sipping out of while holding the handle. Had to be coffee. Dogs lap water. Coffee is sipped.
Paul Gilligan has painted himself into a corner.
Poncho said they mostly drink water. What’s the other? Is it put in a cup on the counter at Pooch Cafe? Root beer? That’s what Snoopy quaffs down when he’s the Red Baron.

Not very hospitable are you, Poncho? You would think that Beaumont would have some num-nums stashed somewhere.

This ‘mostly drinks water’ statement kind of diminishes the concept of Pooch Cafe. I was comfortable with the dogs sitting around sipping ‘coffee’ while enjoying their comrades company..

Good grief, Paul Gilligan screwed up with the no water text.

Poncho meant no coffee… for cats, or mailmen. There just isn’t a sign saying “no dog, no bark, no service”, but it’s understood.

Poncho’s hiding the good stuff from the mailman. Remember, by nature, they detest mailmen, so why would he would give anything to the guy?

Kreole… Snoopy chase the Red Baron in his WWI Sopwith Camel, he is not the Red Baron.

No, Beaumont really serves the guys water in coffee cups.
Poncho: “Mm! This coffee is extra good today!”
Boomer: “Really? I was thinking it was kinda bland.”
Poncho: “What kind of coffee is this, Beaumont?”
Beaumont: “Coffee? What are you talking about? All I serve you is water. You think I’m going to give caffeine to dogs?”
Ponch: “First no Santa, and now this.”
Boomer: “There’s no Santa??”
I don’t know the date of that strip, but it’s in the first book, “All Dogs Naturally Know How to Swim.”

Poncho doesn’t really detest his mailman, except in a generalized way; the two have a fairly cordial enmity, as we’ve been seeing. But if Boomer and the boys find out that he hasn’t been as actively hostile to the guy as he should have been, he might be in for another shunning (he’s already suspected of being “soft on cat-ism”). Poncho is often not in touch with his Inner Dog.
It’s also a virtual certainty that neither Poncho nor Beaumont has any goodies stashed anywhere, which they won’t share. The doggie brain can’t wrap itself around the concept of food being available but not immediately eaten. They have no word for “leftovers” in their language.
