Why was the interior car light insufficient? Why is she wearing pearls to bed? Why does her nose have a halo in first and last panel? Why do women have to be so inscrutable?

That’s her hair on the opposite side of her head. She wears pearls to bed for the same reason she wears her apron every were.

… but even I, as a woman, don’t understand why she didn’t take the make up kit from the car to the bathroom to put on her make up.

I guess she didn’t opt for the “Special Appearance Package” when they bought the car:

If my wife did that, I wouldn’t figure it out. We don’t park cars in a garage and I’d never think she wouldn’t want to put in on inside anyway.

I wouldn’t store make up in the car in a garage. All that heat would melt and ruin the make up.

I don’t think that’s her hair in the first panel – as her lines run through the door jamb too. And the garage step is a 3-D sketch. Weird.
