Reminds me of political ads that effectively reduce voting. These signs will reduce eating, at least in their vicinity.

Sort of like the letter I got last April from a certain Chevy dealer in NJ in an envelope marked “GM RECALL NOTIFICATION” and “URGENT RECALL INFORMATION” on the front, and stating their dealership was a “designated recall site”, implying that it was MY designated recall site. Two problems- they did not have my VIN, and ALL GM dealers are designated sites for warranty and recall work. I later got genuine notices from both GM and Saturn that included the VIN in both and simply said to call a dealer to make an appointment for the repairs. I take my Sky in today- not to the shyster outfit in Cherry Hill, to a much more local dealership.

In Jr. High we had a field trip to a meat packing plant and saw hot dogs being made. At the end we were all offered a free hot dog, not one taker, even tho before the visit, 95% professed a love of hot dogs.

If those two food trucks had a sign disavowing any connection to anything negative the signs would be a mile high and a mile wide! There would be no room for anything else on the sign.

When time and money allow, I make my own sausages. Given my temperament, it’s probably not wise to let me make laws.

Of course the other way to defame by implication is to put the word “big” in front of the general topic. “Big oil” and Big Pharma" come to mind – man are those guys evil – even though they provide products without witch we would be a third world country.

The disclaimer on the second truck reminds me of a restaurant/bar in Boston that was thought to be contributing funds to the I.R.A. I don’t know what eventually happened to the owner, but the authorities did investigate the “situation.”

Curiously, I’ve read a few articles over the past year about how insects are going to be a bigger part of human diets.

This reminds me of an old joke:

Two immigrants buy their first hot dogs from a street vendor. As they look them over, one says to the other,

“What part of the dog did you get?”

During WWII meat rationing, beef hearts were not rationed and were great for beef stew or chili con carne. I don’t know if you can still buy them, They are probably all going into our wieners.

Political version:We aren’t racist bigot homophobe sexists, because nobody would be, but you know… just getting it out there.Vs.We aren’t fascist statists who want to achieve world domination in the name of “peace”, because, well, that’s about as stupid as anything, but… you know… it could happen.

Yes. I’ve seen the ads for the military.“Destroying free nations and killing random innocent people in the name of American global domination for over 200 Years!”I hope it won’t raise your blood pressure if I take that with a pinch of salt.
