Oh yeah….The statue is of a robed female figure representing Libertas, the Roman goddess of freedom, who bears a torch and a tabula ansata (a tablet evoking the law)………………………………………………………,;That’s right, we are a nation of laws and for it to work, those that break the law(illegal aliens) must be held responsible.

How about some suggestions on how to solve the problem. The conservatives (who tell us how religious they are) would deport 12 million people and put all those kids on trucks and dump them in the public square in Guatemala. Not exactly practical or smart solutions to a real problem They want to discourage immigrants but they won’t pass a law that requires businesses to make sure their employees are legal residents. I guess that is because it would cut into profits too much and they might miss a mortgage payment on their mansion.

The statue and its motto were also made during a time when we did not have immigration laws, and it is also not a law unto itself.

Times change, we run out of land and resources, and stuff is different.

I mean, we also have statues proclaiming the greatness of the Confederacy, and no one expects us to live up to that. Well, not many.

Ya know what would be hilarious?[]If the Tea-Party Republicans applied the same logic they use in regards to Gun-Owner ID laws when talking about VOTER ID laws.In that case, everyone and their uncle would be allowed to cast ballots in American elections, regardless or age and/or national origin
