I guess the fashion faux pas of wearing formal evening wear in the middle of the day never bothers Warbucks.

I wonder if Asp and Punjab might be at that boatyard where Tracy embarked on his tour…

So, it looks like Sam (with Warbucks tagging along) is going to Diet Smith’s place to get Tracy’s watch back. He can give it to Tracy when he sees him (which I think will happen eventually). We will get to go back to Diet Smith and see what he is up with with his experiments, maybe.

Punjab and Asp see to be walking down a dark alley. It doesn’t look to me as if they are at the boatyard or marina.

McPheeters said, about 1 hour agoAs the size of comic strips became smaller and smaller over the years, the lettering took up more and more of the panel space

That may be true to an extent, but there were comics long ago that had lettering taking up a huge amount of space. I think the drawing part lost detail (more close-ups) as much as the space decreased for lettering.

All right! Someone is in for a world of hurt now if he dares to cross those two! Seeing Punjab and the Asp is action is the perfect tonic after experiencing the season finale of 24: Live Another Day last night! If I can’t have Jack Bauer, I can rely on this pair of no-nonsense operators to keep the Bad Guys hopping!

I wonder why Warbucks wants to tag along with Sam? Maybe he has an angle he wants to work on too.

I’m hoping the Asp and Punjab are tailing that runaway hospital patient, the boat skipper. (I"m probably wrong, but who knows?)

Someone needs to tell warbucks to step the hell back and let the REAL POLICE do their frickin job! I know he bought them, but for a civilian (and for all his money thats exactly what he is.. regardless of WHO they are searching for) to step in and conduct “follow up’s on leads” without telling the MCU is overstepping his boundaries.. and someone needs to tell sam that dragging a civilian along on a lead is also outside the line of proper police procedure.

wendy wichel would have a FIELD DAY with this information if she ever got wind of it! First, the Mayor accepts a bribe (it WAS a bribe i dont care what anyone else says) from warbucks to remove the ENTIRE MCU/MCS from all active cases to find “little lost annie”.. then tracy goes off in the middle of the night without his wrist wizard, back up, or a RELIABLE means of lettign anyone know where is is or where he is going, he disappears, and then warbucks is brought in to assist in questioning a witness AND sends his own men to follow up leads.. all the while pretty much commandeering the MCU/MCS squad room!

naaah.. thats DEFINITELY NOT a case of a civilian overstepping their boundaries at all

Good morning Dick Tracy and Annie fans. What will Belinda say on her radio program? Does Diet Smith know what happened to Tracy?

The art that was shared with us a week or so ago, comparing the various styles that Annie has been through, showed that Leonard Starr drew Asp with that “Zorro” style hat. I think that was Starr’s idea; I never saw Asp wear any kind of hat during Harold Gray’s run on the strip.

Ooops, I was wrong. He did wear a hat, it just wasn’t that Spanish flat crown style. It was more of a battered fedora shape.

LOVE the art in P3. Punjab and the Asp walking casually/seriously, but their shadows look very threatening, especially the hilt of the sword just barely poking through.

I never was an Annie fan but I really like the Asp. He is like a cartoon composite of some of the Sufi friends I met on a journey that took me thru Istanbul….

Thanks for the compliment. I try. I may have limited Internet availability next week, but I will try to keep up. I really like this story.

This is the best strip running in newspapers today. It deserves every award out there.

I agree and I’m eagerly awaiting the official nomination list for this year’s Harvey Awards for work published in 2013. Last year, the nominations were announced July 15 for a voting deadline in mid-August, so this year’s schedule should be similar. The awards will be given out on September 6 at Baltimore Comic-Con. Dick Tracy deserves at least a nomination for strips that ran last year, including almost all of the extended Mysta story.

I wasn’t tromping around in your head (and I would wear boots if I did).Everyone here knows you hate this story. You make sure of this daily. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if characters as far away as Doonesbury could hear you complaining. For the sake of your blood pressure you should take a break. A little summer vacation. Seriously.Go over to Comics Kingdom and visit Mary Worth for a week. Or drive over to Gasoline Alley. If you don’’t believe me, see what Rex Morgan recommends.Maybe spend some quality time at Go Comics with Tarzan or Li’l Abner (the real one). But a little break just to soothe those frazzled nerves is what you need. Then you can come back nice and fresh, and you can see what’s happened to Tracy, Annie and the gang.(Oops. Maybe I shouldn’t have mentioned the “A” word.)

    Would Interpol then become involved?

Interpol could definitely become involved as an intermediary between police forces and I think there was reference to a CIA agent by Warbucks at some point.
