Well, Evie fished and caught one. Now it’s time to reel in or cut it loose.

WOW! I wasn’t expecting that. Now I can’t wait for tomorrow’s strip. What does everyone think will happen? I haven’t a clue. (Always thought Val and Phil).

You will really be right if Evie says, “come with me.”

… that’s the sad part: one partner realising they love and want to share and the other realising they don’t want to share and don’t really love that much… this will break Arnold’s heart… why do I say this: because “Eep” and a shocked expression mixed with pity isn’t exactly happy exaltation…. let’s hope she’s not too cruel (like: “bag it Arnie, I’m not anybodies other half, thought you had that one worked out-snort”)

I don’t know why Wally is concerned about the weather. A typical winter day in Cape Town is like a nice spring day in Michigan.

Arnold actually proposed to her once before, when they were both working in Haiti (I think it was). She said she didn’t know him well enough yet.

OMG! It finally happened! On the other hand, Wally looks so cute balancing both kids! xD And it’s funny how Joan is doing most of the cooking now especially since she was really terrible in the beginning strips. xD

Lots of times, comics don’t change the family dynamics. Tia Carmen in “Baldo” turned down a proposal because she couldn’t bear to leave her family. Of course, in “Stone Soup,” Joan married Wally, but she didn’t have to abandon her family to do it. Similarly, Susan in “Between Friends” turned down a juicy promotion because she didn’t want to deprive her daughter of any of her time. We’ll just see what happens.

Tough choice….in your sixties, you’ve found true love on the other side of the world, and you face seeing your children and grandchildren once or twice a year at most….I’d say “eep” too.

I don’t think so – I always thought of Evie as around my age. Assuming other things are parallel to my situation, They both are retired and earning years over, both have families and while, no obligations to support them, there are “expectations” and I do not think I’d marry if he asked. I think we could discuss it rationally and

Both Evie and I have all the advantages without the disadvantages of marriage. I prefer to live close, but not WITH my lover (and always own my home). I would be willing to care for him as he grows old, but have the option to end it all if he develops a difficult nature. Right now, I am perfectly happy with him as it is developing and plan to share even more activities after my move. It does not hurt that I’m making a profit on my current house if it sells as listed and the ones I’m looking at in his area are less, so I should be able to afford to add solar power by purchase.

Evie was proposed to before Phil proposed to Valerie. This should shake up the household.
