Let see….. It was the Bush Administration who falsely implicated Saddam Hussein had anything to do with the 9/11 attacks. It was the Bush Administration who presented Congress and the UN with falsified evidence that Saddam was attempting to purchase Nigerian weapons grade yellowcake. It was a member of the Bush Administration who outed Valerie Plame as an undercover CIA agent in retaliation for her husband’s OpEd piece exposing the yellowcake lie. It was the Bush Administration who told the public our troops would be “greeted as liberators” and claimed proceeded from Iraqi oil would pay for the entire mission. It was the Bush Administration who sent inadequately equipped US troops to invade and occupy a nation who did not attack us. It was the Bush Administration who failed to secure Iraqi weapons depots, which then fell into the hands of insurgents. It was the Bush Administration who basically disbanded the Iraqi military and replaced it with nothing, allowing a power vacuum quickly filled with insurgents warring factions. It was the Bush Administration who set up Maliki as leader, who helped fuel sectarian violence by punishing opposing factions. It was Bush who agreed to a specific timetable of troop withdrawal with Maliki, who later demanded Obama follow it.Yeah, I can totally see how you can think it’s all Obama’s fault. Bush had nothing to do with any of it.

I hope Obama is smart enough to get us out of the entire Middle East . We didn’t “break it in the first place”, as many of those who advocate American participation claim. Middle Eastern society has been broken for longer than the United States has existed. In the history of that region, peace has been a rare situation, always imposed by a government strong enough to prevent people who would otherwise be shooting (or throwing spears at) each other from doing so. It can’t be any different when the majority of people would shoot each other over religious differences that would be considered trivial by anyone who had any education that involved more than one book. And, those who are uneducated are convenient tools to gain power for those few who are not, which provides encouragement to keep them uneducated ……………………………………….

But the saying " the enemy of my enemy is my friend" does not apply in this case. Each side is our enemy. We are “infidels”, making us more “killable” to each side than the other side and going over there to interfere is of no value to the American people. We need to simply stand back, allow them to manage their affairs however they would if we didn’t exist, and maybe in a few hundred years they will work it out. Once they realize that we have lost interest in them, perhaps they will return the favor and ignore us too. Killing each other is a more immediate goal.

    …………………………………………….

In those cases where we can infuse some actual education into the mix, that probably would be helpful— which is why they hate teachers more than soldiers. But military interference from America accomplishes nothing except creating hatred for our country, and leaving tanks, guns and bullets where they can be used to prolong the fighting. Granted, mutual hatred for America could bring the two sides together sooner than might otherwise be the case, to attack us, but that doesn’t seem to me to be a desirable outcome. Ultimately, each country belongs to the citizens of that country, and until they fix it themselves, it ain’t fixed.

‘I truly believe that we’ll be treated as liberators’.-‘I truly believe that terrorism is in its last throes.’-’It’s not about oil.’

Yeah, you gotta admire his technique — leak a ‘sources say’ exclusive to the NYT, then go on TV citing the NYT story as ‘proof’ that Saddam was providing resources to Al Qaida.

“obama can destroy America. The libtards are still bitching and crying over Bush?”Republicans have conveniently forgotten the Bush Administration’s roll in the Iraqi debacle and are currently pretending everything was A-OK until Obama took office. Stop assigning Bush’s blame on Obama and the “libtards” won’t feel the need to correct you by reminding you what the Bush Administration did.

Echoraven: Yes, of course the country “prospered” during Reagan’s tenure, what with a massive military build-up, NAFTA had not started yet, sending tens of millions of jobs overseas, and the de-regulation of Wall Street. But it all came back to hurt many of us!
