And 50+ years later, we have men who like ponies.

Even if you had two ponies, you will never dare to ask her to go for a ride with you.

It may also be a nod to one of Bil Mauldin’s Willie and Joe cartoons where one turns to the other and says, “Why the hell weren’t you born a beautiful woman?”

I live in Amish country, and I have seen what two ponies can do on a trip.

Just my luck, my horse would be “Mister Ed”..Oh, a horse is a horse of course of course… you know the rest!

I used to say to my dog….“why aren’t you Lassie?”

I just love the warm smile on Charlie Brown’s face in the 3rd panel.

There was a pony on the big field round the corner from me. He was called Samson and he was just adorable. He tried to eat my hair when I was feeding him some grass.

I know Schulz probably wouldn’t have shown it but if Charlie Brown did ride up to the Little Red-Haired Girl’s house, her mom probably would have said, “Get those ponies off our front porch!” :-)
