Finally bit the bullet and bought a new bathing suit last week (female, 21 years old plus MAJOR shipping and handling fees, let’s leave the age to that). Went to a major department store and found six in my size (one piece; two pieces were many, MANY years ago). Asked the sales associate for her opinion on each.The first two were ’Meh." (not only from her, but from the other ladies trying on items – bland color, boring, evidently solid black is not my color). Tried the third one on – very busy pattern, pinks, greens, and blues everywhere, not one I would have normally picked off the rack, but the sales associate added this one. The fact that I got an already standing ovation from not only the sales associate (who did not work on commission) but from the other women my age in the changing area told me this is a winner. Normally traumatic experience over in less than 30 minutes.
Moral of the story: Trust other people on how you look. Most of the time.
