Val: ?
Val: Sorry, honey. You have to wait until you're OLDER to work in a sweat shop.

Holly wants to buy something because she normally doesn’t go looking for work.

Go around the neighbourhood and ask people if they need anything done. Maybe someone would like their car washed or their grass cut or snow shovelled or leaves raked depending on the season. Maybe an elderly person can’t do some of the heavier stuff around the house and could use your help. You could make a few bucks that way. My brother and I did this when we wanted to buy something special.

I don’t think Holly has that type of work in mind. She wants something that easier to do not physical. Just because you get an education doesn’t mean you will get a good job. Me I didn’t have the money to go for an Associates and now age has caught up with me and no employer is willing. Times have not changed only a higher unemployment market. Holly will find out if she wants an office type position she needs to be speed typer, bilingual and young. Are there grade school/middle school that teach Spanish? I know high school does.

I guess no one ever told Holly about the child labor laws. Most states you have to be 16 to get a part-time job, and 18 for a full-time job. Then there’s the mandatory school-attendance laws. (except in Mississippi)
