That’s the ghost of Ronald Reagan handing out that explosive, as for many folks still trying to pay off those debts from years gone by.

“Obama is to Blame” is the mantra of every right leaning cartoonist. Benson is consistent in her limited ability to see complexity or truth in issues. Unimaginative, uncreative and obviously devoid of any validity.

The cost of college isn’t Obama’s fault, at least to the extent that he hasn’t fought for higher education to be completely subsidized. But what is his fault is high interest rates of loans. While criminal bankers can get essentially free money, the government is making billions off the backs of students and meanwhile fostering a culture where people who work for a living, from fast food workers to white collar, are being beat up by those who work in finance, etc., aided and abetted by the government, including Obama and his Goldman-Sachs cronies. So, he’s making us pay high rates and then he’s encouraging the parties who would give us jobs to outsource or pit us against each other in a race to the bottom. There’s a lot Obama could do to make it better. Give students access to the same rates that bankers get.

The average college graduate pays about $5800 more a year in federal taxes than the average high school graduate. Over 30 years, that totals about $172,000. If that’s divided by the 4 years it takes to get a college education, the government would break even if it paid every student $42,000 a year to attend school. This doesn’t even consider that with the degree, the person is less likely to ever need unemployment or welfare, that more students would complete high school if they could see a clear way to a really good job, and that they would be enriching the Social Security and Medicare funds. They would also be paying a larger amount in all other types of taxes. And they would be buying more products which would boost the economy, and put more people to work at jobs that require all different levels of education. The best investment we could make to keep America strong is to not just forgive all student loans but to make all higher education, as long as the student is making decent grades, totally free, and increase the number of schools and teachers to make room for all who can profit from the education. We don’t, even at a time of high unemployment, have so much a lack of jobs as we have a lack of people who have the skills to perform the jobs that are available- in other words, a lack of education.

Didn’t Congress double the interest rate on student loans a year or so ago? Something about not having enough money otherwise….

But I jest, of course. It’s Obama’s fault.

Overtaxed (too taxed to accept any logic or fact): The huge increases in costs to students at California universities was a direct result of Reagan policies and actions of Governor of California, he also was President when the real “cons” in the banking industry, through regulation changes done by the administration, NOT changes in law, allowed them to really start ripping investors and clients off, and become a “legalized” mafia.

Student loan debt is the fault of the government for sure but not something you can pin on Obama alone. Yes, he idiotically (as usual) wants to expand loan programs and by extension, government but he is only the latest in a long string of do-gooder idiots that think more government financing of education through loans is a good thing.

President Obama must be the most untiring, energetic, cleverest and dynamic personality this nation ever produced! All the initiatives, laws, wars, poverty and natural disasters that he has master-minded make any James Bond foe seem like a little kid! You must hand it to him, all the responsibility that I have read in GOCOMICS commentaries certainly describe a man of super-human strength, nerve and tenacity of purpose! How does he do it?

So when did the Conservatives find the time to ask for Student Loan Reductions and Extensions of those reductions, before Obama that is?
