“Religionists” love hypocrites, they foster and promote so many of them. JESUS defined where prayer belongs, and they ignore it. The Constitution DOES recognize the teaching, in Article VI and the First Amendment.
“Hey, if the “Christalliban” gets to pray before meetings, then the Jews, the Muslims, the Druids, the Wiccans, the Lutherans, the Catholic Cult, the Mormons, the 7th Day Adventists, the Presbyterians, the Pastafarians, and ALL the rest get to do so as well!”.Don’t forget the followers of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, they and us atheists should have our turn at every meeting.

They want government to be the religion with their anointed as “high priest”. To quote Hitler’s propaganda minister “National Socialism is a religion. All we lack is a religious genius capable of uprooting outmoded religious practices and putting new ones in their place. We lack traditions and ritual. One day soon National Socialism will be the religion of all Germans.”
But sessions of Congress aren’t conducted in front of a small population where they can tell who might be opposed to the prayer and thus carry out discrimination or retribution. A small town is a small town and if religion becomes an integral part of the civic process, those who aren’t religious are put at a disadvantage. The argument is that the prayer is ceremonial, but to the people of Greece who wanted this, it’s clear that they want to entangle religion and government. It’s a bad decision.
Have you ever stopped to ask why so many people hate religion? Perhaps it has something to do with what religion has done to us: the religous wars, the Inquisitions, the Holocausts, the inscribing of SOME people’s religion into Consitutions and schools which are meant for everyone, even those without faith,…If faith were kept private instead of public, then most of these atrocities and hypocrisies would never have happened.
