^^^^. You do realize that California is Toyota’s biggest market BY FAR and those were comments made by the CEO of said company pulling out 4000 jobs from Southern California, right?Of course he’s not going to rip Ca, but I’m gonna take a wild guess that “The highest taxes in the country” might’ve been mentioned in the board meetings before moving out of Cali.Another factor I’m sure was mentioned was that Ca is the King of Workers Comp and Employee lawsuits since it’s run by Democrats.Or do you want to think Texas is better geographically for a Japanese biz than California.

My fear is that the folks coming over from California will vote the same way in Texas as they did in Cali. We need look no further than Colorado to see what could happen next…

That is the problem. People run away from high (and ever increasing) taxes and then vote for the things that run up taxes in their new location. The next step, of course, is to complain about high taxes.

Liberals do not understand that once we send our money to a government it is no longer real money. It is government money and therefore a never ending asset. If you run low, just go get some more or, in the case of the Feds, just borrow more.

@Jase99: you are right. (Sarcasm). These companies are in the business of blowing up their own factories so that they have higher cost and lower productivity.

@Tax Man, Northern Redman, OvertaxedI was referring to the West Fertilizer Company explosion that killed 15 people and injured over 150. The U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board investigated and found that company management failed to take basic safety precautions in storing potentially explosive materials and there was a lack of regulatory oversight. Let’s not forget about the oil refinery explosion and subsequent incidences in Texas City, where company officials had a track record of safety violations.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Fertilizer_Company_explosionhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_City_Refinery_explosion

Thank you, I am glad to see at least one other poster here that sees the truth and agrees with me. California is going to continue to be the leading state in the US for the high paying and benefits tech industry as we have the best educated work force in the US!

Just for an example. There was a recent article on CNN about the six best colleges/universities in the nation for students to have a high return on investment for their money and time to get degrees from. They were all private colleges, and were not cheap to go to, but the earnings of students over the twenty years following their education were upwards of $1 million more than non college students. With the exception of one remarkable business college they were all high science and engineering teaching institutions.

Two of them were in Massachusetts (MIT being one), one in New Jersey, and 50% of them were located in California! Number one was Harvey Mudd College out of Claremount California, number three was the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, and number four was Stanford University just adjacent to the Silicon Valley (so guess where many Stanford graduates end up?). Now these were just the outstanding private colleges/universities in California.

The article did not even include what is considered by many educators and companies to be the best over all state supported University, College, and Jr. College system in the US and possible the entire earth!

    Dear Lisa,

Do any of your cartoons make sense? If so, where do you hide them?

    Thank you.

LANDERS,Yes, California probably does have the best talented and motivated workforce in the country. This is what made the state great for decades. But what is happening now is that companies are willing to accept less productive, less talented workers in a state that will appreciate the revenue a company brings and the wealth it brings it’s residents.I’m not hoping for the continuing fall of California, I have family there and love to visit, but if they continue with their anti-business climate(voted #1 WORST in the country), the fall will continue.Too many taxes, too much regulation and too many lawsuits.

“The explosion at West happened because the firemen put water on the fire after they were told not to because it would cause an explosion. Funny how the left always misses little things like that because they could not blame a big corporation if they did.”The fire could have been avoided in the first place if company management had basic safety measures in place. Funny how the you ignore that.

The fact that Texas cannot afford to educate its kids, insure its citizens, or keep its roads paved; and cannot bear to regulate even explosive fertilizer plants proven to kill people, does not bode well for its future.

Out severe drought condition is a very large problem. But, our agribusiness is adapting methods of farming that will use far less water for greater yield of crops. However, I would like ot see more salt water desalination plants such as the Santa Barbara area build. After all we do have the worlds largest lake just some twenty miles to the west of where I live in the San Fernando Valley (otherwise known as the Pacific Ocean)!

As to our minority employment rate, just how could a large percent of minority employees be a bad thing?
