Every time I see the “left” accused of such strategy, I think back on the Iran “hostage crisis”, the fact the hostages were released only 5 minutes after Reagan took office, and all the later involvements proving complicity before the election, like Iran/Contra as one component of the fraud and well, treason, to hold them until Reagan won.
