Been there and done that…..as a cop.Full scale pursuit, speeds reaching over 120, the other cop says “Something is wrong with that guy, he is making the strangest faces I have ever seen and wont pull over. I am doing all I can to keep up” He was driving a Dodge Diplomat 105 max. I joined up at the county line in a new 1987 Mustang, five speed, V8, factory headers and exhaust does over 140 at a drop of the hat, I looped around and on we went. Suddenly up from his lap pops a girls head and suddenly all the brakes came on and it was felony stop at gun point, all to ground……after it was all said and done we got to the question as to “WHY”? He explained he was getting service orally and could not keep his right foot from floor boarding the gas pedal.Now try to be serious as a cop at that………I admonished him about his behavior and recommended Cruise Control (which he had) next time the “need” came up.We did let him go. Went to the coffee shop and waited for the next one.
I’m with you there with the Fantastic Four and Mad. I never looked at the romance comics at that age either. I might have looked a lot sooner if I’d realized how sexy some of the art was! (Plus there were occasional ads for women’s underwear—-which was still a mystery to me back then!)
