It’s the punch line. If you’re the only one, it’s a bad punch line.

The light bulb is okay with these historical things, but is hoping for a more current role.

Aaaaand now, here is the famous punchline! I almost forgot there was a strip to go with it..Tacopielvr, he was just a baby then. I’m sure he grew to be a strapping hundred-watter. (As strapping as anyone was in first-century Israel.)

How many Christians does it take to change Christ?None. Joseph and Mary changed Him every day.

The bulb’s name is Bertie. Anyone get that? No Pynchon fans out there?

My brother’s girlfriend is related to jeffrey hunter, of king of kings fame. Anybody remember him? He probably did not really resemble JC, but he sure was attractive. He died after hitting his head after falling down a flight of stairs years later.

This contains elements of a topical joke, read the newspapers and pop culture articles of the times to figure it out.

I expected a lot of negativity to today’s strip and was not disappointed. Or actually, I was disappointed that such an innocuous 40 year old strip could draw ire.But this is still one of my favorite lines of all time.

Today’s strip was fantastic. The comedic responses of the readers were superbly entertaining and nobody got drunk or started a fight… CONGRATULATIONS EVERYONE!

@Kris Jackson.“Against the Day”-“Cambridge personality Bertie (‘Mad Dog’) Russell observed,” observed Barry Nebulay, “that most of Hegel’s arguments come down to puns on the word ‘is.’ In that sense the thing about a Quaternion ‘is’ is that we’re obliged to encounter it in more than one guise. As a vector quotient. As a way of plotting complex numbers along three axes instead of two. As a list of instructions for turning one vector into another.”
