Another bow to the chickenhawk brigade, making a nuke threat out of sow’s ear purse (full of pigpoo). Some Russian clown who saw “Top Gun”, and wants to be Tom Cruise?? Anyone remember the old “bear” and “bison” flights of the ’50’snd ’60’s, or aware of our own harassment of many nation’s territory, ships, etc??

I’m guessing Varvel never served, either that or he’s just to partisan to worry about reality.

It’s kind of fun seeing NO ONE agreeing with this idiotic cartoon. The sanctions (and, perhaps more importantly, the threat of future sanctions) are having a big effect. Russian growth was negative 2% last month, and the Moscow stock market is falling precipitously. Obama’s doing a pretty good job in a thankless situation, certainly better than neocon chickenhawks like this cartoonist would be doing…

Michael, I don’t know where to start, but you must read more books on the history of that time. Hitler, even against the qualms of his own generals, made up his mind to smash ALL Czechslovakia, and was actually miffed when Mussolini called for the conference. Hitler WANTED to use his Wermacht. He did not believe England capable of coming to aid the Czechs. Russia was paralized by Stalin’s purging of the Red Army’s officer Corps. The Poles made known to Hitler their desire to scoop up a slice of Czech territory. France, going through 2-3 governments per month, was too screwed up to do anything, and would do nothing unless England acted.

How would England get those 15 division to Czechoslovakia?

The irony is that once the Wermacht entered the Sudetenland, and saw the Czech fortifications, they cringed at what might have happened if Hitler ignored the conference and ordered them to attack! Yes, the world should have stopped Hitler in 1938, but who was going to do it?

Varvel the Idiot would have us declare war on Russia. Don’t see any down side to that.

I find it funny that Hillary was slammed by the right for comparing Putin to Hitler but it is OK to call Obama, Nevil Chamberlain. Why does the rhetoric sound like the right is on Putin’s side?

Wait, Mexico attacked the US to start that war? Really? You mean like Poland attacked that German radio station, or was it more the way the US began shooting down Japanese planes over Pearl Harbor?
