That’s what I always called the “Continuous oil change” plan.

My first car couldn’t pass a service station without having to be filled up with water for the radiator, gas, and oil. Boy, what a lemon! Got rid of it quick!!!

My company rented a van once, from a national rental company. It was one of those that has a dipstick that seems 6 feet long. Nothing at all on the dipstick when we checked it. We put in five quarts and it was just barely showing. Don’t know whether it was gracious or not; but that company didn’t charge us for the rental.

One of my Dad’s old clunkers was called “the oil well” by our local garage attendants. Their “mechanic” never found the silver-dollar sized hole in the oil pan!

The older Jaguar’s would use oil without smoking. Of course, something had to give when you cruised a XK150 “at speed”. At speed meant ≈ 40 over the speed limit. My friend’s XK120, XK140 and XK150s all did the same. Fun cars, though…

I change the oil every 6 months due to low mileage. It’s 3,000 miles or 6 months which ever comes first.
