No, Joe, you’re not stuck with just those two parties. There are plenty of 3rd party options out there, but few people will vote for those candidates for fear of starving “their side” of votes and letting the “other side” win.

I’m sorry Michael, but I do not agree with the last part of your comment. Today, with so many think-tanks, “independent” Citizens For This…… and Citizens For That….. groups, and private analysts prepping the grounds, and so much money (often from un-named individuals) provided for campaigns, that many little known, but aspiring candidates have almost zero chance of nomination. Candidates must first gain approval of those who donate. Money is not given for nothing; The usual quid-pro-pro is expected.

I was stunned about ten years ago when I read that then-Pres Bush had SEVENTEEN speechwriters on his staff! It makes me wonder how many Pres Lincoln had.

It is a real win if you like listening to or watching endless hours of propaganda that has little relation to the facts. I am sure the media is overjoyed at the prospect of so much money coming their way. Unfortunately most voters are so uninformed there is little possibility of making a good choice. I think the real value of a democracy is the random nature of the process limits the ability of anyone getting into a position of complete control.

I know: I was being facetious. Another indication why he was such a great Man and President. If I had my way, no president should have speechwriters on the Executive payroll. If they cannot express their views & points by themselves, they have no business in such a high office.
