I do not dispute your friend’s former in-laws, but I have heard differently.

I took family on a White House tour during the Bush administration (GWB). We took the opportunity to ask Secret Service agents roughly the same questions. They agreed each family had its own relationships with the SS staff. The men we spoke to were correctly vague in their responses, but we got the distinct impression that both Bush families were the least amount of fun to work with in recent history.

Chances are, other agents would say otherwise. I wouldn’t put too much faith in what either of us heard.

A family friend is retired Secret Service, and extremely “straight arrow”. Back in the 41 days, the “joke” was that if anything happened to GHW, the Secret Services first responsibility was to take out Dan Quayle. It wasn’t that much of a joke. Under W, the security of the nation meant both W and Cheney had to go, with the Speaker of the House taking over. (That IS btw, the order of succession, not the Secretary of State as Haig so famously got wrong.)

These guys are all pretty conservative, if not blatantly “right wing”, so these faux pas are kinda’ entertaining actually.

If one feels that way one should resign. Being a guard requires one to be nonpartisan. These drinkers and fornicators have let down the whole Secret Service Corps.

“LOL,,,,good one….I guess I’d have to be drunk also to work for the clown we have in office today.”So what you’re saying is that if the Secret Service (or any kind of body guard agency) made the mistake of hiring you, you’d be terrible at your job.
