Oh yes, been there, done that and earned the wrath of my Dad. I wouldn’t go back in nor would I listen to the teacher. Dad actually left work to get me back in. We were in a small community so wasn’t like he had to go a great distance but none the less. After about the third time it sank in, listen to teacher to avoid Dad!
Well — this strip WAS over 25 years ago, when playground equipment still existed in many places. Now they’ve taken all the equipment away, and the kids don’t have anything to play with except their electronics (and the parents want to keep them inside under strict supervision anyway) … and now the adults screech because the kids are too fat.
What happened to the playground with all the fun games such as crack the whip, tag, dodgeball…….? Ya got hurt, ya got a bandaid, cast, splint or whatever then went back to it!
When I was 6 & on my 1st day in 1st grade at a new school the bell rang that afternoon and we all left the bldg. I managed to find my way home all by myself & was quite proud of myself til my mom told me it wasn’t dismissal time left and it was only afternoon recess. So she walked me back to school & splained to my teacher what happened. D’0h!

Just enjoy it. Trust me, being 5 minutes late for class when your 6 years-old will not ruin your life.
