My laser correction surgery in ‘91 successfully rid me of glasses for 20 years but now age has caught up with me…My wife wants me to get “cool”, thick framed glasses. Arty, she says. I want functional, hardly noticeable frames, so discreet, light-weight, durable frames (’cos I’ll hardly wear them and I keep taking them off so the bendy indestructible type). That makes me bourgeois? Meh, while I shrug gallically, hand me a croissant, s.v.p.

Well I finally meet the qualifications for the frames I’ve been wearing since the 70’s.

I haven’t been posting as much as I used to. Partly I’ve just been busy with other projects, but partly I do miss many of my buddies. And partly I feel I’ve said what I have to say. It would be a shame, however, to leave the site without some balanced presentation of positions.+Did they really remove Baslim’s post? That’s too bad; I was going to save all his links. What possible reason could there be for removing that post?

Do you remember when they used to post international Views cartoons regularly? Now it’s once a week if they remember to.I’m not really interested in the American political partisanship that goes on in here so quite often I don’t have much to say or care in many cartoons’ subjects. ONly when an international subject is broached, or an American foreign policy measure touches me in some way do I bother. It’s a real pity since I’ve been registered here since 2008 but was a paying member much earlier.I don’t understand their business model. Does it really work for them: pissing off real contributers and keeping trolls? Surely not…?

Of course I follow the overall point. But unfortunately I have no clue what “A-Boat” is supposed to stand for.

Ah, thank you, Shilly Halliburton. I missed seeing that the whole phrase was hyphenated, and additionally (since the text is in all caps) thought there were intended capital letters in " A-Boat". So I thought that was a kind of boat, just as “U-Boat” would be — and of course didn’t know what " A-Boat glasses" are, any more than " U-Boat glasses".
