It’s important you dot your tees

Ok … in what world would these kids be casually washing the dishes, without being told 30 times, and then reminded 30 more.

To Tirasmol, a latchkey kid (a well behaved one) usually keeps the dishes clean. They understand the more chores done, the more time with parents.

To fathergod, we still don’t know if the restaurant is being sold. The kids have heard them talk about what Gus is talking about…a great game of Telephone. Nobody is sitting down with anybody else to ask what is going on.

It’s nice to hear (read) somebody else use the phrase “dot the t’s and cross the I’s”. I’ve been saying it since High School, when I was on the paper. Don’t know where I heard it from originally. My kids have picked it up, and it drives their teachers crazy, until they get used to it.

I like the kids with their tongues protruding.

All we need now is the cat to start talking again.

think the young fellows in the last panel are breaking the fourth wall. the blonde kid looks like he is a descendant of Curly from the 3 Stooges.

Jimbo doesn’t appear to have this storyline fully thought out yet. In the March 14th strip, the kids looked older and were taller than the chairs (see March 14th). In this strip they’ve shrunk about 12 inches and the chairs are now taller than they are. Plus, now the two boys are apparently taking hallucinogens, so maybe this is some kind of Hunter Thompson-esque drug-addled orgy that will make itself clear in about two weeks when we cut to find Ludwig shaking off the cobwebs of a massive cat-nip overdose and all of this was just his hallucinations.

Why are the boys so weird looking in the last panel? This whole story line is odd and poorly drawn.

i recall a discussion about dad giving up his controlling ownership in the restaurant…so i think he’s selling (or giving) it to his daughter. i believe the place stays open, hence the dotting of i’s and crossing of t’s (which gene reversed)

It is intuitively obvious, even to the most casual observer…

I didn’t notice the turned around phrase at first and didn’t connect it to the boys’ crossing their eyes. I guess I’m not very observant, but I also don’t complain much.

At almost 75, I have been saying ‘cross the "eyes"* and dot the “tees” for so long that I don’t remember ever doing it another way. And yes, that IS the sort of thing I WOULD remember.

*Now look at the last panel again.

Seriously, until today, I thought the blond haired, fat-nosed “kid” – Skeeter – was a middle-aged guy who worked for old Gus. I could tell he was harmless but still thought it weird they let little daughter hang around unchaperoned with a middle-aged man. NOW HE’S A KID? And he’s, what, 3 feet tall He doesn’t even come up to Gene’s belt??
