We do NOT have a spending problem. We have a revenue problem. When Mr. Bush slashed taxes, we were assured that this would rev up the economy to such an extent that the enhanced economic activity would supply new tax revenues to replace those lost by the cut. Three years later and before the Great Recession, this had not happened. Rather, we went from surpluses under President Clinton to deficits under Mr. Bush. And then the great Wall Street debacle completely tanked the economy. Without the revenue stream to properly run government, it is difficult to make things better for anyone but those who already have far more than they need or could ever spend.
Obama does not decide on spending and revenues (taxes). That is the job of Congress. If Congress does not raise the tax or cut the spending it can’t happen. Why are folks blaming Obama. If Obama, via an executive order, decides not to spend the money, these same folks call him a dictator. – Go Figure.
when bush 2 became president debt was 5727 billion and rose to 10626 billion when he left // now 17426 billion //best i could find since 1900 only calvin coolidge decrease the deficit
Iraq invasion= $3 Trillion. F-35, $1.3 TRILLION in obligations. Gee, where does Obama come in as causing that cost, caused by Congress, Republican administrations and credit spenders since Reagan first cut taxes…
The only thing mentally abnormal Republicans are good for is reducing the tax burden on the rich. They are sticking the children and grandchildren of Americans with a Gini coefficient the same as Uruguay’s and is heading for banana republic status.
@truist. Are you being intentionally obtuse or merely stupid? Lord Zero and fellow Liberal Fascists have nearly doubled the size of the national debt due to their idiot Keynesian economic policies- the same sort of policies that failed under the FDR regime. The only reason why the same fascist Democrats that imposed Prohibition later rescinded it in 1935 because FDR needed the tax revenue to cover his ass up to WWII. Lord Zero has placed the US in a similar situation without an equivalent to the end of Prohibition or WWII to save said economy.
Are you actually bright enough to have degree or two w/ the word SCIENCE printed on them?

Cut Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid for all except the most poor. That will get everything in the right direction.
