Non Sequitur by Wiley Miller for March 30, 2014
Transcript:
Homer the Reluctant Soul continues... Bert: Uh-oh...the witch test? Homer: Yeah...a little miscommunication there. Duncan: Gee, ya think? A large crowd gathered to watch the trial... Judge: Since it would take witchcraft to survive, drowning will prove your innocence. Homer: Wait...what?! Then, bursting through the crowd... Hope: Duncan! No!! Judge: Innocent!

And so the life/death, reincarnation cycle starts anew?

And the difference from the present day judicial system . . . . . . . . . is?

Duncan took a really deep breath before diving in. Homer is going to smell of wet dog for the rest of the day.

Duncan could have swam to the surface and didn’t, which means he went in and freed him and they swam off together.

Gigantor, you do understand that this story is being told after they both died, right? It wouldn’t surprise me none if this wasn’t a personal statement by Mr. Miller….If I have to explain what about, I won’t bother…..

Panel 5 is great….The last panel’s simplicity is devastating…..

I don’t expect that this is the end of this chapter, but did go back to October to review from the beginning. .Thanks, Wiley.

When your life is filled with challenges and sorrows as Homer’s. Things rarely end happy.

Oh, for the good ol’ days.

I read this in the newspaper over breakfast. Oh, Wiley, why’d you have to go and do that? That was the saddest comic I’ve ever SEEN! :’ – (

And no one lived happily ever after. This may has to be the longest story Wiley’s ever done – it began last Oct. 6 (I just checked). And that isn’t St. Peter, it’s St. Bert.

There is no “to be continued …” in the last frame, so this installment concludes this arc.

Sadly, this modality of thought exists to this day.

I dunno how happy the ending can be. They’re dead! They’re telling the story from Heaven!
woodworker318 about 10 years ago
They were originally sent down from heaven to do a specific task but Homer is very inept.
jahoody about 10 years ago
maybe Duncan chewed thru the ropes and freed Homer…..despite the Pearly Gates scenario….tune in next week for another exciting installment!!!

I do hope there is an epilogue that tells what happens to Speranza (the girl).
NCTom Premium Member about 10 years ago
We have been told that Speranza means hope. Maybe we should have some hope.

This is a no win situation. If he survived the drowning they would of killed him. In Salem they killed innocent women but the real witches got away. Angeligue on Dark Shadows was one of them

Puddlesplatt, you are so out of date! Women survive because we produce the next generation.
Caddy57 about 10 years ago
I agree that if this is truly the end it is rather abrupt.

Generally, Homer’s deaths tend to be on the silly side. And it could have happened any number of times up til now, especially during the volcano eruption. I’m betting there will be a moral pointing out something Homer should have learned from all this, and we haven’t seen that yet.
