A unicorn eating peanut butter should make a cute video. I think this story arc ended with Marigold eating all the peanut butter.

“Bamboo Harvester”, the Palomino that portrayed Mr. Ed, was a he. And was a gelding, to boot. Factoid of the day completed. Carry on.

According to Alan Young, at first the horse (Bamboo Harvester) was actually made to “talk” using a piece of nylon thread in his mouth , but he learned very quickly to move his lips when the trainer touched his hoof, and later would even do so when Young stopped speaking. Young says he made up the peanut butter story because he and the producers thought that kids would be disappointed to hear the real details.

Could peanut butter be used as a lure? If I put some in my garden would a unicorn show up? Hmmmm

Thanks for colorizing this one, Dana. It still makes me smile.

The horses from Mr. Ed were geldings, thus not technically “her”

So the week of reruns is over (for almost a week), the weekend is coming & we’re missing today’s strip – again. Why am i not surprised :(? Maybe that will put to rest who is responsible for the late strips, when it was solely GoComic’s job to get reruns out, they were on time, every day.
