Women who expect their men to pay careful attention to everything they say are always disappointed. It seem that they consider this a sign of love, when actually just putting up with them for any number of years is proof of our love…
It took several years but I finally learned a way to solve some of the problem. When shopping with her I watched what she would show strong interest in. When she stepped away I would slip the Visa card to the salesperson saying what I wanted, come back a few minutes later to sign for it. It always worked when I would surprise her with it. Took a long time to catch me at it and then she got more selective with her “I like that’s”.
My wife is not beyond telling me flat-out what she wants. I’m the one with the problem. I don’t really want anything unless I actually need it. So when she asks me what I want for whatever occasion, my answer is usually something like, “socks.”
