What’s the world coming to when Cossacks can’t be Cossacks? I mean, we shouldn’t try to limit our pejoritive terminology….That way when you say “You’re acting like a Cossack” it has some real meaning.
Abraham Lincoln spoke of tsarist Russia as a place where “they make no pretense of oligarchy.” Putin used to, but he has dropped the pretense. Cossacks with horsewhips? Big hats and all? Please.

They used to mercilessly raid RussianJewish villages, destroying both their residences and even the Jewish residents themselves when they (the Cossacks) could get away with it… The Russian Jewish people left the country in droves…it was either that or get maimed/killed by the Cossacks… ;)
