The middle class has been trying to make themselves extinct for 50 years. They stupidly try to impress the wrong people buying what they do not need to impress and then go broke. They willing pay foolish prices for tickets to music events and sporting goods, making the rich – richer, than complain about the cost of the extras at said events. Remember the rich got rich off the money the middle class gave away foolishly – cause the poor has little money to give to the rich.

These are supposed to be “comics” for some laughter and escape from the pressures and demands of our lives… not a platform to play the blame-game for all our currents woes. Each individuals own choices in their lives is what has brought us to this place of moral indifference, greed and violence. We are the ones that give our elected officials free reign over our lives. The really bad news is that now it may be too late to get back our freedoms. We are like the frog in hot water… its already boiling

Must be the Piltdown Middle Class Man.What we need is a true liberal President with a super majority in both houses of Congress so that they can enact all the proper legislation to preserve the Union, the economy and the American Dream so that no Republican majority in the Horse of Representatives can undo all their good works without really doing much at all so far.

well so much for that – i get enough political garbage elsewhere, i don’t need it in my comic strips – so this one is off my list (not a big loss – it was not that good anyway)

If the middle class were killed off, who does Stahler think voted out the republicrats? The reality is – today’s republican party has more in common with Kennedy’s administration than with Lincoln’s.

Not many Americans realize that class-consciousness was a European trait that we left behind when we split from England…until Marxist theory brought it back via the universities in the 19th century. And it’s not just the “progressives” either. Marx’s ideas on society and economics thoroughly run throughout our culture. And the current administration.

He might be right, but it would be Reagan’s Congress. As I recall, that’s when middle class wages began to flatten as worker productivity and executive pay went through the roof.We worked harder and they got paid more. Clearly Obama’s fault.

The rich make the jobs, the middle class do the work; and the poor sit on their butts and collect the dividends.

The Republicans in congress are doing their job. Their intention is to keep everything just as it is, unless they can manage to return to the “good old days” of the 19th century, before there was a middle class and when only the landed gentry were voters. And, they have a great strategy for accomplishing this. 1. Disenfranchise everyone you possibly can, unless they are dependable Republican voters.2. Produce ads and media emphasis which emphasizes those politicians who are corrupt and incompetent. Paint all Democrats with the same slime. Lacking sufficient actual slime, simply make some up. This undermines the people’s trust in their government and makes them feel like helpless pawns, so they tune out the whole process and accept the status quo. 3. Support the “job creators”, who have managed their affairs so that they are the recipients of a huge portion of the GNP, although that GNP was produced by working people, who are receiving less benefit from it every day. This gives them the money to accomplish the other two goals, and leaves everyone except the “job creators” with increasingly less money to mount a counter campaign. So, this is the way we are going lose the middle class and become a country inhabited only by the very rich 1%, and a 99% who are too busy working two jobs to survive to notice.

I agree with most of the comments. We were better off when Ronald Reagan the the two George Bush’s than we are now and we were not living in a soon to be communist country thanks to the current person living in the White House.

You’re all right: the rich are too poor, and the poor are just too rich. Makes perfect (non)sense to me.

Are you saying that Democrats in office AREN’T richer (because they are) or are you (like Jeff Stahler) blaming the republicans with a Democrat president who LOST his majority? What disconnect with reality are you living with?.Hint: Obama didn’t lose majority in congress because of too much competence. .Perhaps the middle class has been losing ground, because in the middle of a recession the president proposes and rams down the throat of the American people a massive expanse of government? Couldn’t be, that’s too logical. Let’s just blame republicans and magic unicorns.

Looks like you are more than moderately confused. The Democrats control the Senate and the Presidency. They are clearly in control of the disaster. The only only thing the Democrats are good at is blaming others for their own screw-ups.
