Our health crisis is a disease crisis; mainly brought on by lifestyle. No amount of manipulating insurance payers will get us out of this mess; till we address improving health. The beef industry, dairy industry and Monsanto sit on USDA and FDA boards. Their influence negates anything healthy proposed by the prevention portion of the USDA. Less than 7 million spent per year on prevention by the USDA.. Dairy and Beef portion of USDA spends in the billions to promote the consuming of saturated fats.Read Salt Sugar Fat (How the Food Giants Hooked US); Written by Pulitzer prize winner Micheal Moss.

This idea in concept is sound, if hospitals for example just had people who couldn’t pay work off the debt as janitors cleaning toilets or taking care of the grounds or doing whatever their skill set allows it could cut down their expenses so they would not need to raise prices so fast to offset losses.

Problem is for people who can’t pay, working is either a full time job and they have no time to work it off or they don’t want to work at a real job so why would they work to pay off a debt?
