That should read…but I don"t. The reason I don’t is that my family owned a grocery store on a highway that dead ends at the Mt. Baker Ski area. I had to work when the ski area was open, so that skiers could get there gas, beer, snacks, Etc.

As Tony never answered, I did some Googling before I saw your reply ….
and discovered that Seth MacFarlane got in trouble for a Lincoln joke when he hosted the 2012 Oscars, and used the same line.
My guess would be that Tony was referencing that, rather than ancient Carson schtick.
