As harsh as it sounds his isn’t the first and won’t be the last celebrity artist / actor / star to self immolate and kill themselves in a reckless fashion.
Really? Get yourself addicted and see for yourself just how “easy” it is to walk away. And how you’ll spend every high stress moment, every broken heart, and every moment of depair desperately trying to remember to keep walking away..Since you seem to be the very definition of a troll I highly doubt you’ve contributed anything close to this world what PSH contributed.
The curent system isn’t working. MADD did a great job changing public attitudes against drunk driving. Maybe a similar tactic would work better to counter the entertainment industry’s glorification of drug use. (violence too)
martens: you give some respondents way too much credit, their species may be “erectus”, not sapiens.
Having dealt with addicts (including alcohol) on several levels, it’s easy to blame them, much easier than blaming the DEALERS, including CEOs of big companies, a few Congresspersons and other “local” politicians, and others, who profit from creating and feeding those addictions.
Treat addicts, incarcerate (or worse) those doing the dealing, meth, opiates, and other hard narcotics, prescription included, and stop wasting effort and money on marijuana, which the feds, at a minimum, need to take off the Class I list, and properly list with other medical NON-narcotic drugs.(like some OTC preparations as well.)
The true irony is that the USA is supposedly a Christian nation. Yet it would seem that the true Christian values of compassion, love, and even forgiveness, are somehow missing from our very discourse. The question is not really “What would Jesus do?”, it is more like what is Jesus going to do with the souls of these that are so greatly nasty in their comments about their fellow human beings? Especially, as eternity IS such a very ling time. I wonder….
Indeed, if one seeks the forgiveness of God and Christ for their sins, then Christ has promised eternal life to those sinners (including those that do terrible things to their own bodies through recreational drugs). But, one of the greatest signs that this has happened in our own lives is a genuine love and sympathy for other human beings (even non Christians). Looking at some of the nasty and even horrible comments here by some, do you actually see this evidence?

No, Darwin Awards require unique or original stupidity to qualify. Drug overdose is insufficently stupid and frequent enough that it doesn’t qualify.
