Those claxons remind me of Wormy’s car, whose hooters concealed Tommy Guns!

Mr. Jones, I mean Nitrate is more devious than he first appears. He is stealing this classic car using a whole stack of paper work that seems to be “in order”! Well, he is a con-man, so I guess that’s his skill.

The more you get to know Silver, the more that murder seems an aberration of sorts……he seems to be a like able guy otherwise who would be more than capable of swindling someone without killing them.

So this car belongs to the Jones family? Silver and Sprocket might soon find themselves on the wrong side of Stilletta!

If you were that other guy, wouldn’t you find it kind of weird they put a caged hyena in the back seat of a museum quality car? “Now there’s something you don’t see everyday.”

I take it that the Wonder Cars of the World Museum is the cartoon surrogate for the Volo Auto Museum north of Chicago (=Tracyville), which is more than just a typical museum, (as the wiki explains).But I must say that Silver’s deviousness just impresses more as each nuance unfolds! He really is something!

fredville: Agreed. I’ve been mentioning that these two are an enjoyable pair of comic relief criminals. Their only major malfunction is that gruesome murder – and their attachment to that hyena..That said, one has to wonder not just whether, but how many times they have used that hyena before…

Brooke McElDowney fans: Can someone remind me when the original WWII story ran a couple years ago? The current story appears to be winding down, and I think I need a few pieces from the original puzzle to understand this one.

Flattop Jr. was a young mechanical genius who outfitted his super-car with devices like a TV, fridge, stove, hi-fi record player, and running water. His story took up a large part of 1956. While he eluded police in one chase, he was later trapped in the ruins of an old theatre. He eluded police by setting the building on fire. He was forced to leave the car behind, parked on the stage, where it was badly burned but not destroyed. I like the restoration job by Staton and Curtis.

This is the best picture I could find of the exterior of Flattop Jr.’s car and another example of the gadgets inside. Does ot look like the one in the museum is this one?

I was actually a pro member (or whatever they called it then) back to November 2004 on mycomicpage.com but that changed over to gocomics.com at the end of 2008. I had to give up the pro account because money is just too tight for me these days.

Just watched BELLFLOWER last night. Not a great indie movie but cool car(s). One vehicle had a tap by dash that dispensed whiskey. Reminded me of Flattop Jr’s gadgetry (the above hotplate strip ref).

Thanks, Neil Wick, for the classic Gould..Was that a “ghost” supposed to be hanging on to the passenger door of Flattop Jr.‘s car?.Do Mike and Joe read these comments?.Something I’d like to point out in the sampled artwork, something I had almost forgotten from the Gould-en era:.THE FONT!.Look at the capital G in the Gould artwork..No horizontal slash, just a vertical stem..These and other stylistic flairs helped announce to the world that Gould was behind the pen. This stylistic font was also used on the parody comic strip, Sawdust, which we now know was allegedly written by Mysta, the Moon Maid..It’s a minor detail, I know. But I hope it’s worth resurrecting.

Sorry Gweedo. Not sure why that is. I just did a google-fu search for Flat Top Jr’s Car and came up with that.
