You’re so right !!! If we really wanted to create a lot of jobs, wages would be outlawed and owners wouldn’t have to pay them anymore. I bet they would then hire lots and lots of people to work for them!! Problem solved! Just repeal the 13th!!
yeah, like those “owner/stakeholder’s” in china. they keep the workers in dorms so they can work longer hours and don’t need to worry about rent or commuting – we should have more of that “living wage” stuff here!
Capitalism is based on the assumption that the goal is the maximization of profits. If a capitalist can increase his profits by lowering wages, then that’s what he should do. His wages have to be high enough to keep his workers alive, but if there is a surplus of workers, even that wage level isn’t necessary, since if one worker dies or gets too sick to work, there’s another worker to replace him. Of course this all sounds like a parody, but in the 1800s, that was pretty much the reality — read Thomas Mayhew, “London Labour and the London Poor”, or Dickens’ novel “Hard Times”, or Engels “The Condition of the Working Class in England”. Markets are wonderful, but they need to be regulated.
Guess you never saw Bush 2’s 1 finger salutes..http://www.podcastingnews.com/content/wp-content/uploads/2007/06/bush-bird.jpg.http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/1871/1101/1600/bushfinger2005.jpg.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v642/shakespeares_sister/shakes4/9.jpg.http://www.morphizm.com/images/observations/levine/bushfinger.jpg.https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-kPipY2Le5Gk/TYZ6-6Gup9I/AAAAAAAAKRg/RQONp_EZjRw/s1600/mfs0280.jpg.http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WYJ-Fn9nCS0/Thk3mqj972I/AAAAAAAALYA/psFo1XDUZBE/s1600/bush+salute.jpg
“To provide for the common defense”, means to today’s Republicans in Congress cutting my disabled retired Navy veteran son’s retirement pension (along with all retirees), and closing commissaries, while maintaining their OWN salaries and benefits. How “F’ing” loyal they are too our troops who’ve sacrificed so much for us.
Going back to our early history I’ve now got a suggestion for all those “TEA party” Republicans in Congress: it was called tar and feathers and a ride out of town on a rail!!
This makes no sense. The (apocryphal) remark of Marie Antoinette indicated that she didn’t understand poverty — she thought there was a shortage of bread in loaf form, so suggested they eat buns (cakes, not pastry) instead. Obama is saying just the opposite — that people have to be fed. If anything, it’s the Republicans who are insensitive to the issue, shrug it off and assume there are other ways to feed yourself. As the comments here indicate — it’s not so much a matter of being heartless as being ignorant. And heartless.

So lets say the average McDonalds sells roughly 80 burgers per hour.
With 6 employees working.
Take 6 × 4$
divide over 80 burgers
You see about 12% inflation in cost and 36% inflation in wage.
So, yes it does help them
