Ted Rall for February 03, 2014
Transcript:
Even after the war ends, the U.S. wants to leave 10,000 troops in afghanistan. (Man: 10,000=0. It is mathemilitarily impossible for there to be fewer than 10,000.) Pentagon math depends on what the meaning of "troop" is. (Man: All combat troops will be gone. Instead, there will be 10,000 heavily armed, combat-trained, non-combat troops.) If there are "30,000" "Troops" we say 20,000 without air quotes. (Man: The first "10,000" simply don't count. Logically.) If there are zero troops, that means there are -10,000 troops in Afghanistan. (Man: -10,000 U.S. troops= +10,000 Taliban)

Let’s just cut to the chase, Obama needs to cut the military to spend the money on “stuff.” Of course, that “stuff” is well, important stuff but we’ll never see any benefit from it because it isn’t the right stuff of which Obama has none.

With 800 military bases around the world, does anyone still doubt MLK’s contention that “the United States is the geatest purveyor of violence in the world today.”?Disband the entire US military establishment, and substitute for it a citizens’ militia, chosen by lot like jury duty and rotated regularly.
