They broke constitutional law to travel and conspire and work to tie the president’s hands, and even tried to set US foreign policy that was contrary to Reagan’s upholding the Monroe Doctrine in force since Jefferson.-I see no proof of your claims about the Contras. All armed rebels, especially those trying to stop pro-communists in a government, kill as they were being killed. The Contras opposed Russia moving into their nation and into the Western Hemisphere. Conservative Americans opposed the Russian plan, beginning in JFK’s term, to install missiles in Cuba and elsewhere, to be aimed at the USA. Reagan saved us from a Communist Central America with nuclear power to attack the USA.
So the country picked JFK over Nixon because he was the conservative candidate? Supporting desegregation, the Peace Corp, the plan to put a man on the moon in ten years, he was no conservative.
And from JFK’s 1960 CampaignBrochure, his support for “a higher minimum wage, increased unemployment insurance, a broader Federal housing program and safer working conditions.” …………..Please show me todays Conservative support for those ideals.
