This has nothing to do with the free market. The only motivating factor for cancer research is fear of death. Even the rich are scared of a slow painful bed ridden death.

The research announced today will make an important contribution to the global effort to find a cure for HIV.”Today’s announcement includes funding for two research projects: •Dr. Eric Cohen at the Institut de recherches cliniques de Montréal will lead the Canadian HIV Cure Enterprise: a collaboration of leading Canadian HIV researchers aimed at finding new approaches to curing HIV infection. •Dr. Hugo Soudeyns at the Centre hospitalier universitaire Sainte-Justine will lead a project focused on curing babies and children who acquire HIV from their mothers during pregnancy. NO!!! Just because that’s what the media, in ALL their wisdom and we know how much that is, have decided that the viewing public is dumb as rocks on drugs doesn’t mean they are. They’re just HOPING we are.

Ah yes, alternative “news” media broadcast from inside your tinfoil hat, the perfect place to avoid “socialist” contamination of your mind with a little reality. Supplemented of course with core values from the king of Oxycontin! Ditto, ditto, ditto, heads.

For the same reason any portion of your taxes is spent on research to cure any other disease affecting the nation.

It has been in the past, and is now still quite possible for even so called “normal” people to contract aids through such as contamination of public rest rooms, or even the blood supply (although this is now less than it was in the beginning of AIDS awareness). Not only that, but as a civilized society should we not spend our funding on searching for a cure to a disease that causes so much pain and suffering of our fellow human beings?

It used to, but its audience is shrinking almost as quickly as it’s aging.

In addition, those who use FOX for their main—or only—source of news are worse informed than those using any other broadcast or printed media this side of the National Enquirer.
