As I’ve said in the past, I tend to hold liberals to a higher standard than conservatives where civility is concerned. People who claim to support social justice should be willing to make a greater effort to display social graces. My thanks to Michael WME for the link so I can have some context for this content. The cartoon is blatantly false. Liberals would never burn that woman WHILE she’s holding her puppy. (bad joke. but I haven’t finished my coffee.)Freedom of speech, and the freedom to say things people deem ignorant, is our right, but not our duty. As far as those who say FOX must be right because they have the most viewers, I’ve read Mr. Murdoch’s biography and his agenda is not an American agenda. He is using the Republicans because they are willing to be used and he is telling a group that actually watches “news tv” what they want to hear in a way that adds to the divisiveness afflicting our nation and our congress. His success has been such that other 24 hour news organizations follow in his wake but with a different slant. It is easy to point out that there have been other organizations, in history and today, who were able to gain a majority of supporters to follow a path that caused/causes great harm to too many. It is only through going deeper and reading the writings of those who offer political opinion; of reading the actual letters and writings of our founders; and of actually educating yourself on issues that one can make rational and intelligent decisions.Don’t believe me. Read for yourself, but remember, if you only read those with whom you agree, you not only don’t step out of the box, you tape it closed.Respectfully,C.
They’re criticizing her! How awful of them. Don’t they know that free speech means you can say anything you want and nobody can say anything about it that you don’t like?
If you continually poke a hornet’s nest, the hornets will stay angry. This principle has helped fuel today’s popular enmity politics. A good example is the NRA’s continued bleating in 2008 that Obama was going to take everyone’s guns. Got gun-lovers into a real tizzy, and gun/ammo sales went through the roof, while membership in NRA also increased. Of course, everyone still had their guns in 2012, so the NRA stated that Obama didn’t take their guns in his first term to lull the populace into thinking that it wasn’t his agenda, but what he REALLY wanted to do was wait until his second term to take away everyone’s guns. Again, a huge spike in gun sales and memberships. Works like a charm. This is the principle behind Fox News. To be fair, Fox is not the only organization that practices this, but Fox is a trained professional at it compared to the other, more amateur, news outlets.
More proof: the preponderance of extremely slanted websites, which basically offer its readers “good reasons” to feel the way they do, and helps to stir their outrage by making them believe that they are the only people in the world who truly understand the magnitude of how awful whatever/whoever it is they hate.
This serves no one except highly-targeted special interests. We need to remember that, although we have differences, we are all Americans, and we all want what’s best for our country, our people, our communities, and our families. We can disagree over how to accomplish this, and that’s healthy. But coming to the table with a pre-conceived notion that everything I think is right, and everything the other guy thinks is wrong, and I will fight everything the other guy thinks with every fiber of my being is a recipe for revolution and the destruction of what our society holds dear. If only the masses would be willing to resist, but human nature makes us bond together to fight a “common enemy”. The problem here is that some have a vested interest in taking your friends and relatives and turning them into the AntiChrist. Sad.
Good Grief! The Sky is Falling! The Sky is Falling! You have actually made a post that most intelligent and educated posters here could agree with! Congratulations!! In fact there is absolutely no reason that men should not also follow that criteria when voting! Personally, I try to stick to the issues themselves, and that means that sometimes I vote conservatively, and sometimes I vote liberally. I now have hope that despite your very conservative posts here, that you do the same!!

It seems that both liberals and conservatives have one thing in common, they both have mastered the fine art of lying with statistics.

Yes, your guy got re-elected. But he and his sycophants had to lie about every issue to do it. Even liberal Dems are running away from him now.
