That’s my dog no matter the weather. Open laps must be occupied.

It’s 7…with windchill -23…and I live in southern Michigan, not Alaska. Temperature control is a losing battle in our current polar nightmare. Baileys in my coffee…it was a dumb New Year’s resolution anyway. ;)

This strip could be of my cat. She waits just long enough for a lap to appear and then she’s in it. Unlike Arlo, though, I love it and am sad when the warmer weather comes.

I’ve known a few self-declared cat-haters who have turned 180 degrees the first time a cat curls up in their laps and starts purring. Think of that line from the musical “Cats”: “Just touch me and you will know what happiness is.”

Since we’re having a “battle ’o the temps”, it’s -21 in MN, with -40 wind chill. Almost everywhere across the US seems to be experiencing radically lower temps. So -20 for us in MN probably feels the same as 7 to you good folks in southern MI.

I posted the following awhile back, before Milwaukee weighed in. The site kind of froze up, and ultimately put my post three times. I erased two of them, then the third disappeared. Just had trouble with this post; have to threaten it with the Task Manager. Anyhow, I put (oh, heck, I deleted what I’d copied on my mouse – anyhow, I put that in Sheboygan at 8:00 CST it was -13, windchill -35.)

My cats want to go out, but when I open the door for them, they just stand there, looking at the snow. As soon as I shut the door, they start whining to go out. We go through this a few times, then I get bored. They seem to think I’m responsible for the weather, and should make the outdoors habitable for them.

Sleet, freezing rain and snow expected here in NW Florida any minute now..At least we expect back in the seventies in a couple of days..Nonetheless, and I don’t mean to be rude, y’all can keep the rest of the winter wonderland to yourselves, thank you very much.

It’s 65° in St. Petersburg, FL, supposed to get up to 70°. However, I’ve gotta say that 60° here feels like 40° in WI. Maybe it’s the perspective?? The p. j. pants under my regular pants? Etc.?

Not only are the cats in my lap while I watch TV, they are piled on me as I sleep. I guess they are providing as well as receiving warmth.

High of 5 and sunny today. Suppose to have a low of -4 tonight. Right now it is -6 and only 9:30 pm. Both cats on my husband while he’s sitting in his recliner. When I leave the computer and go to bed they will both be on me. It’s a ritual around here.
