…and a lot of energy to stoop down to tie just one shoe

In half an hour, Mrs. Olsen will be teaching (or at least attempting to teach) the kid a skill that will make her life easier and more successful for, oh, the next seventy or so years… if she can convince the kid to invest just a little effort now. Meanwhile, Mrs. Olsen knows that her other shoe will eventually come untied, and at that time she can re-tie both of them for very little effort than it would take to re-tie the one right now. Sounds perfectly consistent to me.

I just go ahead and re-tie both when one comes loose. If I know the other will come loose soon, why not be proactive?

    It’s not hypocrisy, it’s arthritis.

; ) I don’t look in the mirror unless I really have to – I always get some weirdo calling me “Princess” and telling me how fair I am…

Hmmph! It only took three panels to describe our complete system of government in the U.S.

That’s a turn on the old joke about knowing that you’re old when you bend over to tie your shoe and you wonder what else you can do while you’re down there…

As Sternolonel Coopnegel said, “If you want to hay stappy, never mance into a glirror.” from the Bog and His Done.

Somewhere around age 30, I decided tying and retying laces wasn’t worth the effort, and I was never going to buy another pair of shoes with laces. It’s worked out well except finding quality insulated winter boots that slip-on or zip-up but won’t fall apart after just one season has been a problem.

It is not the lack of a work ethic but, more likely, the presence of pain. Not worth bending over for just one thing….

I have the ability to run around with untied shoes without tripping!

It also takes very little energy for a child to stoop and tie an elder’s shoelaces.
