I finally figured out who that boy band is there, in the shadows…It’s none other than…. "New Kids In The Hall "!…..– It seems recently, in January/February, Greg sends the one “least hero-istic” character to go up against a bad guy….a sort of “match of antagonists” …There was TJ vs. Ann… could it be, this year, Crys vs. Les in a “Loser Leaves Town” match, like the old days of ‘wrasslin’ ? – Could Crystal be ssending this “Hound Dog” on a mission to chase his own tail?…Could she be telling the truth about telling on him, and then bluffing her next step, when Les pressed?…Lying is definitely reprehensible… hope that she isnt ’ “righting” a wrong with a wrong’!…

If she’s trying to get him to go confess himself to the principal, then he has to describe what the circumstances were that resulted in him punching Knute. Including K.‘s having struck the first “blow” (something Crystal didn’t witness). The unblinking eye of a security camera, imaginary or no, would have caught that.

Has anyone ever noticed that Greg draws Les somewhat like a long-haired young Bob Hope? The ski slope nose etc and it’s odd that Bob Hope’s real first name was “Leslie”. I have some of those old Bob Hope comics they made in the 1960s and wonder if that is where he got a little of his inspiration for him.

your immaturity is showing. I guess you haven’t lived long enough to see how often men’s restrooms are used to handle the overflow from he women’s rooms. Not only was Knute justified for trying to protect Crystal but Leslie could end up being prosecuted for sexual assault. You don’t even have to be convicted for that stigma to ruin your life.

Or maybe you’re gonna double down?

“Fair” is treating everyone special. And I think you’ll find there’s no “regulation” about women in men’s rooms. After all, most of those who clean up are women.

Clearly, Knute’s some kind of Official Volunteer Cleaner. With the right to shut down the bathroom. (What a domain ;) )

Bullying is most often carried out where authorities cannot see it. Doesn’t take much imagination to realize that restrooms are an ideal arena – besides the bully’s peers can see it, and that’s often a benefit to the attacker. So the authorities would see themselves justified in discreetly placing cameras in the restrooms, and if confronted they would say they are just protecting the victims. That’s what Edward Snowden was revealing. If this occurs in “high government”, dontcha think this could apply in high school?

-If so, I hope he does it in a fashion that incriminates Knute for attacking him first and Crystal for being in the boy’s bathroom,-Given that Les demanded that Crystal tell him ‘who told her’ in the second frame, my take is that Les does not believe for one second that Crystal was actually in the boys room at all. -So if he does go to the principal’s office (very unlikely; he’s not that dumb), why would he mention something that he doesn’t believe was true?

-Since you are so disappointed in this comic, I have to ask why you continue to read it. Seriously. There are a lot of other comics, why not pick one that is more to your liking? The cartoonist has been writing this way for some time now, and has amassed a large following. Why would he change what has been a winning formula for him?-By the way, if you are reading as closely as you think you have been, you would realize that Les’s reaction in the second frame of the comic suggests that he never thought Crystal was in the boys room, because he’s demanding to know who told her about it. So, if he did go to the principal’s office (which is highly unlikely), he wouldn’t report her ‘infiltration’ of the restroom. He’d only report that he was attacked and defended himself…-You might enjoy the cartoons ‘Baldo’ or ‘Zits’ that are also about teens. Try them. Maybe they’ll make your day happier, instead of a ‘really bad’ day….

“Crystal has used her comment about the cameras to intimidate Leslie.”.Yes, she has. She has scared poor little Leslie into thinking his deeds may have been recorded and the way he is trying to intimidate her in panel 2 may have been recorded, so he is forced to pretend to be friendly in panel 3 to explain it all away.

Last week, Knute (who not known for lying) told Les that Crystal was in there. ^Being told something (even if from a credible source) and believing said information are two different things… – If someone told you your significant other were cheating, or that your car is totaled, a passing thought would be to either believe that one is either “just goofing around”, or in the case of someone you don’t get along with (as would be the case with Les and Knute), you would choose to disregard said information…

“Leslie could end up being prosecuted for sexual assault.”.“Except that the “sexual assault” that you speak of never happened.”..Physically touching her after obviously trying to intimidate her could be taken that way for current actions.(nobody would, but could)..There would have to be reliable witnesses such as cameras but cameras are even in telephones these days.

“Crystal is trying to punish someone who tried to use the bathroom she took over (which the strip has already indicated is not allowed), and for punching her friend who attacked her in the restroom from behind.”.HIM. Leslie is a him.Knute attacked him.Knute attacked him in a misguided attempt to protect Crystal..Even though Crystal’s use of the boy’s room is terrible, terrible, terrible and Knute was terrible, terrible, terrible for abetting in this most heinous felony and both admit they did wrongly, the fact remains Crystal is wishing to punish Leslie for hitting her sweet baboo.,

“She’s been a selfish twat this whole storyline.”.Nah, she had a biological need which she could not deny and the school obviously has ten times as many boy’s rooms as it has girl’s rooms, so she was using what was available rather than put the school in DefCon One and tie up a HazMat Team. That isn’t as selfish as it seems to you. Definitely not a twat, even though we assume she has one.. “ Secret restroom cameras in a high school would be highly illegal.”.Of course they would. The assumption that he couldn’t be fooled by a mere woman, though, is questionable.-“Les might even get off for self defense and admitting to what happened.”.He probably could if he had cameras to back up his version of what went down. In fact, he needs a reliable witness that anything happened even if he confesses/accuses.-“Bonus trivia question! You walk into a bathroom and a man chokes you from behind. Do you: B: let him choke you until you pass out and/or get raped.”.So you think Knute was trying to rape him? That would definitely make Knute a villain and is no trivial matter..I wouldn’t have done it because I wouldn’t have gone in the restroom knowing there was a GIRL in there, and they got cooties. We all have our priorities.

Look for a plain vanilla ending.

‘Crystal, you know better than to use the boys’ room unless it’s an absolute emergency. Suspended.

‘Knute, your heart may have been in the right place, but you know the rules about fighting. Possible danger and actual danger are two different things, you jumped the gun, and that makes you the instigator. Suspended.’

‘Les, you were inconvenienced, no argument. But, A) You have the right to protect yourself, but when you go past that and then attack someone yourself, instead of reporting the incident, you put yourself in the soup too and B) You (Of all people, if what Knute and Crystal have told me about incidents with Rosa and Tiffiany is true) don’t make ‘cute’ remarks that could be mistaken for a threat, especially one possibly sexual in nature. Suspended.’

I was responding to what JPW said… JPW was saying that he believes that since Knute is not known to be a liar, that this would be part of the basis to conclude that Leslie should not have had any excuse to disregard him when he warned about Crystal being in the bathroom… – At which point I was saying that regardless of the credibility of someone, the other isn’t under any obligation to believe him… and that there are situations that even if one told the truth, there would be a passing moment of feeling the other was “pulling your leg” (as in the couple of situations that I used in my response above for examples)….

It’s as good as any other, and certainly better than some others have made up by reading in their own opinions into the story.

And mine isn’t an assumption, it’s speculation. It seems like the only way Crystal could “show” that Les attacked Knute without showing K’s aggression first.

Let’s see, entrapment is getting someone to commit a crime he would not normally commit..While Crystal may be planning to lure our hero, Leslie into committing a crime, just telling him the principal wants to see him regarding the incident is not pushing him to criminal acts..If Leslie goes to the principal’s office and says,“Crystal told me the principal wanted ro speak with me,” most likely the secretary would say. “Nope, not to my knowledge. Do you know what it was concerning?”.Whereupon Leslie would say, “No,” and that would be the end of it other than Crystal getting in trouble with the school and the unlikely possibility Crystal would be attacked if any violent people were involved..Entrapment seems unlikely.

And you are right there was no sexual assault in the restroom.Nor elsewhere in this strip. If you want to stir up a hornet’s nest, though, suggest that not all such claims are valid.(Note: i didn’t suggest it here, wouldn’t dare, wouldn’t be prudent.)

Leslie Knox is just lucky that dear little Shannon didn’t show up to bite his finger off. Such is the fate of villains, real or perceived, in the Luannverse.

Perhaps, all three of them should face some form of penance for their part in what happened.^That’s nearly similar to a thought I put forth last week…. that maybe it’s possible (conceivable) that either all three are guilty, or maybe that all three are each innocent., and not just the “someone is always right and someone is always wrong” kind of thought, usually depending on who a person would be drawn to side with….

Methinks your lenses are a wee bit out of focus..You confidently assert our good friend, Leslie, wouldn’t have touched/yelled at Crystal had she not told him that she had told on him. Given the fact Crystal had NOT claimed to have ratted on Leslie, that claim is self-evidently false. In fact, she did not even mention what the incident was..Your legal definition of entrapment leaves a bit to be desired. The idea that doing anything that would result in anyone committing a crime is fascinating. Banks are guilty of entrapment by having large sums of money which will seduce people to rob banks.Women are guilty of entrapment by walking around with their faces uncovered which will seduce law-abiding men to become rapists.Drug dealers are guilty of entrapment by carrying illicit drugs for sale which will seduce good people to shoot up heroin..Ah, but the banks, bare-faced women and pushers don’t want the people arrested? The first two sets do. More to the point, there will always be SOMETHING which will tempt those so inclined to commit crimes..It is not illegal to have money in the bank, a bare face or even to commit the sin of lying (assuming she is) even though it will sometimes result in crimes. Even the crime of offering illegal drugs does not absolve the buyer even though so far it lands the dealers in jail too if caught, charged and convicted..Crystal is not yet a criminal other than for relieving herself in an unsanctioned location. Cast her in your dungeon for that heinous crime if you must but not for other imaginary felonies.

Then I can walk into your living room, making it de facto my living room, too? And if you aren’t at home at the time, can I keep you out if what has become my house?

Possession is 9/10’s of the law. That 90% is intended to keep things in the possession of their rightful owners. For the rest room in question, that was the male students. Crystal is, in effect, a restroom “thief.” (Technically, she’s a “squatter”. but under the circumstances, that would be a terrible pun!)

“Possession (is) 9/10ths of the law”-———————————————————-I actually had a cop tell me that once, and I had to ask him; ‘then why do you guys chase burglars?"He didn’t really answer that…

I can’t swear to it, but have been told the nine tenths of the law statement means nine tenths of all law concerns questions of ownership, how you own a thing rather than someone else owning it..People have proudly announced native americans believed it was not possible to own the land. If so, those who sold Manhattan or some other piece of land to Europeans thought they were defrauding them of their money or whatever was given in exchange, but that was okay too because they also didn’t REALLY own that either. In fact, there was a heap of fighting, stealing and killing over territory, personal effects and even people, all under the idea power to take was all that mattered..Our legal system is set up under the concept of legally establishing posession and enforcing that establishment. (Even Crystal’s actions were fair examples of the idea you are free to use what nobody else is using, just as Europeans figured nobody was really using most of North America, because vastly more people could grow crops on it, whereas the Native Americans were using it for hunting and gathering and they were constantly having off other hunter gatherers. After they took it, they were angry over those same people hunting their cattle and gathering their crops.).Come to think of it the entire toilet saga was a good metaphor for the invasion of the Americas by the Europeans.

I’ve seen the take-over of a men’s room by women on television to comedic effect where the men suddenly rush out, hastily re-dressing themselves upon entry of the females.Whereas, in “real life”, unless an authority figure tells me to clear out, I don’t care. I have my “business” to attend to. If it offends the dainty sensibilities of someone closeted in a stall, too bad. The sounds and smells that emanate from the human body have to be tolerated if one is in a public (read: shared) facility no matter the sex.The calls for uni-sex restrooms are NOT going to happen in American public (or private) schools simply because teenagers in this country are steeped in a culture of SEX . It just wouldn’t work.(The joke comes to mind that only an engineer would place a playground next to a toxic waste dump.)

Here I am on the end of things again: Crystal seems to be using her “Woman Power”… There’s going to be trouble once Leslie finds out Crystal lied about the principal wanting to see him… Maybe that will be funny…I don’t know. Will probably find out in tomorrow’s strip… ;)

“…lets enter the 20th century and have cameras where they belong and are effective and have “Uni-sex rest rooms…” Actually, this is the 21st century and one would think that there Would be uni-sex bathrooms by now…however, I’ve only seen gender-neutral bathrooms as being one room only and not a room with multiple facilities… ;)

Yes, she mentions the incident but does not describe it. There are many restrooms and many incidents. And the incident could have been an off-stage mugging, someone wetting his pants, Knute attacking an innocent child.Simply saying “the incident” is not informative.

“Don’t play the dummy.“The incident” can only relate to the interaction between Les and Knute. Everyone knows Crystal is K’s main squeeze, she could hardly be uninformed about what happened to him.”-She could be misinformed. Most importantly, there is no actual statement that the principal has been informed at all or of the particulars.. I’m not a dummy — or don’t think I am — when I say Crystal hasn’t spelled it out for Leslie Knox. I don’t understand why you accuse me of playing “the dummy.” She is letting his own imagination work against him. …What does she know? ….Does she have proof? …..How will others look at it? ……Were there other witnesses?…….How did THEY describe it?-Another thing worth considering is the one of whether or not Leslie had the right to be where he was at the time. …Was he supposed to be in the Gym? ….Did he have a hall pass?…..Was he supposed to be going to a restroom on the other side of the school near his classroom?……If the accusations included him using some sort of contraband, would they search him?…….What might they find if they did decide to search him?-You sort of understand but might consider more deeply as to how it would look through Leslie’s eyes.
