Who in the late-18th century wakes up at 4am? Farmers and plantation owners’ slaves maybe.

So, if someone wanted to get up at 6:00 am, he could set the clock 2 hours behind?

Back then if you wanted to eat you had to work. Before I retired I would have to get up at 3 AM 5 or 6 days a week. One will do what one has to do to get by, no matter what the era you live in.

I wonder if Joe Salter would have garnered any attention if he had just focused on running the marathon?

And then Joe Salter did a split on the side mirrors of two trucks driving backwards on a desert road….

An alarm at 4am would be telling me to go to bed.
