A blast from the past! Oliphant certainly drew quite a few hippie types back in the 1960s. He had no particular admiration for them, as I recall. I clipped out a lot of his cartoons from our local paper, and wish I still had them. .One I remember shows a few draft-dodging-hippie-protester-pawns-of-Hanoi (I assumed) teasing a gnarly gorilla in a cage labeled (“Gorillus-rightwingus: Do not feed or push too far!”), and out of their view the creature is bending the bars apart. Prophetic..And why is pot being increasingly tolerated, when at the same time khat is increasingly banned? All the old potheads I work with seem to have swiss-cheese for brains, so I think this will be a disaster. Oh, but as long as we tax it, things are okay!.Why can’t we find something that people like to do that doesn’t cause tumors, disease, or overpopulation, and makes them smarter?.Pot, guns, increasing CO2 levels, and climate change denial — is there a connection? Next, on " FrontLine." I jest.
